About the photograph
Trees never fail to fascinate or surprise me, often taking my imagination somewhere entirely unexpected. When we look beyond the tree as a whole, smaller worlds begin to emerge: characterful gestures, abstract shapes and relationships between elements that invite us to linger for a little longer.
I love to see stories and metaphors unfold within a woodland. Here, the jagged oak branches seemed to crackle through the fiery autumn leaves like bolts of lightning, turning the canopy into an electrical storm. It was a challenging scene to compose, with every line competing for attention, but that complexity was also the source of its energy. Finding coherence within the storm demanded patience, but rewarded every moment of my attention.
