The Dysfunctional Family
Every so often, while exploring woodland, you’ll come across a grouping of trees that have the kind of character and relationship that helps to create a compelling and storytelling composition. Different people will see different things when viewing scenes like this, perhaps my view is a bit negative, but it’s the first thing that came to mind when composing this scene. I first stumbled upon these characters in April 2016 and then patiently waited until December 2016 when the conditions offered the perfect balance of light, colour and mood. Storms and time have taken their toll on these ageing trees since then. Spending a lot of time in woodland makes you realise how fragile nature can be and a view you enjoy today could be very different tomorrow.
