About the photograph
For many years, this ageing pine has stood in solitude within a shallow wooded valley, its presence quietly commanding. Whenever I visited, I felt welcomed into its home, and between 2016 and 2020 I returned often to find refuge and solace beneath its branches. The tree featured in my very first YouTube video and later stood proudly in my photograph *Valley Stories III*, quietly accompanying an important period in my life and work.
Yet I had never seen it quite like this. Ephemeral sunlight streamed through the valley and bathed its weathered form, as though the old pine were warming its aching bones. The title *Forest Bathing* reflects a shared moment: the tree bathed in light, while I found restoration in the simple act of being present among the trees.
