About the photograph
In the sleepy silence of winter, the dynamic architecture of trees is laid bare, allowing us to fully appreciate the character in their gestures and interactions. I had discovered this composition only a couple of weeks earlier, so it felt like a rare stroke of fortune to return and find the woodland transformed by such beautifully soft conditions.
With a fallen limb lying like a casualty between them, the surrounding oaks appeared to be caught in the midst of an argument—their moss-covered branches leaning, pointing and protesting across the clearing. Mist filled the spaces between the trees, gently separating their tangled forms and lending a quiet theatricality to this imagined dispute.
