NEW DATES ADDED!
Due to the 12th-15th August selling quickly, I’ve added a second workshop detailed below…
A fantastic bloom of heather covers the North York Moors in a carpet of pink and purple in late summer and it offers many photographic opportunities in beautiful countryside. As well as huge expanses of open colourful moors and vistas, the heather also spreads into some of my favourite areas of woodland for something a little bit different.
Sunday 19th August – Wednesday 22nd August 2018
Laskill Country House
Breakfast, light lunch and 3 course evening meal
Moderate (rough terrain)
"The time I spent on your workshop last weekend may well prove to be one of the most profitable, rewarding and long-lasting investments I have made."
"Simon has really nailed the workshop format with a completely client focused experience."
We’ll have 3 days to explore the North York Moors, taking in valley views, open spaces and of course some glorious woodland. Each evening will be finished off with a 3 course meal and then you can kick back, relax in the lounge or on the terrace with a drink to recharge for the next day. I’ll be on hand throughout the whole of each day to offer guidance, technical advice and lots of discussion around thought process and composition.
My workshops are all about keeping it simple for you, so you can just relax, enjoy and learn. The package includes:
3 nights stay at Laskill Country House in your own en-suite room
3 x three course evening meals at Laskill – prepared especially for us and so choices will be confirmed in advance.
Breakfast and light lunch, homemade flapjack and refreshments
3 days of tuition made up from Sunday evening, Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday morning
Transportation to all photography locations during the workshop
Excludes: Insurance, drinks at the B&B and travel to and from the accommodation.
The group size for this workshop is only 3 people! Two reasons for this – It makes travelling more comfortable and it allows me to ensure each participant receives as much time from me as they need. Plus we’re less likely to lose someone in the woods!
You’ll stay at Laskill Country House B&B near Helmsley where our superb host will also serve a 3 course evening meal so that you can relax and have a drink at the end of each day. I use the same B&B for my 1-2-1 workshops and I can assure you that you’re in good hands and in a beautiful setting. The group workshop will start on the afternoon of Sunday 19th August for 3 nights and finish late morning on Wednesday 22th.
Fitness and Experience
Although we won’t be walking long distances, we will be walking on rough and uneven terrain through woodland undergrowth, thick heather and possibly even crossing small streams. Some hills will be short but steep. It’s important that you’re confident on your feet, open minded and happy to venture across various terrain throughout the whole day. This is a very quiet area of the country and I find that the best images and enjoyment is away from the main footpaths where the only track to follow are those formed by the wonderful wildlife. If you’re concerned about your fitness then may I suggest a 1-2-1 workshop that can be catered to your needs.
Simon was Commended in LPOTY 2016, received Outdoor Photography Magazine's Choice prize and recently won the Light on the Land category in OPOTY. He's a lover of all things outdoors but has a particular affinity with woodland where he enjoys the therapy, wildlife, atmosphere and tackling the compositional challenges. You'll usually find Simon way off the beaten track with photography companion and best friend, Meg. Watch Simon on YouTube
Booking and Terms
Terms & Conditions
A non-refundable deposit of the amount stated in the workshop description is required at the time of booking.
The balance of the workshop price is due 6 weeks prior to the workshop date. Should this final payment fail to reach us by the date specified, we reserve the right to treat the booking as cancelled and retain the deposit. If a booking is made 6 weeks or less prior to the departure date then the full amount is payable at the time of booking.
Any cancellation by you made in the 6 week period prior to the trip will mean that we retain the total cost of the workshop unless your place is sold on. If this should happen we will retain only the deposit and the balance will be refunded.
The receipt of a deposit does not imply acceptance of a booking. We will confirm our acceptance of your booking in writing by email, and it is at the time we send out this confirmation that a contract comes into existence between us.
We reserve the right to alter or cancel any workshop. Should an alteration or cancellation become necessary for reasons other than force majeure (see clause 6 below), we will notify you and you will then have the choice of accepting the change, taking an alternative workshop (and where this is of a lower price we will refund the difference), or withdrawing from the contract and accepting a refund of all monies paid to us.
We can accept no responsibility for cancellation of workshops due to Force Majeure. Force majeure is unusual and unforeseeable circumstances beyond our control including fire, flood or adverse weather conditions. Landscape photographers work in all weathers and it will be unusual for weather to necessitate a cancellation. However, if a workshop has to be cancelled due to adverse weather conditions, we will offer you a free place on an alternative workshop.
In the unlikely event of the specified tutor being unable to attend due to illness or other circumstances beyond our control, another tour leader will be provided. If this is not possible, then the workshop will be cancelled and the provisions of clause 5 will come into effect.
We do not accept responsibility or liability for death, bodily injury or illness caused to you or any other person included on the booking form, unless arising from our negligence.
By paying the deposit, you are agreeing to accept all the above conditions. The person who pays the deposit for a group booking does so on behalf of all the individuals included on it, so that all are bound by the booking conditions.
By booking with us, you agree to receiving occasional emails from Simon Baxter Photography with news and information about our tours and services. We will never share your details with another organisation. To opt out, just send a blank email to firstname.lastname@example.org with the title 'unsubscribe'.
